Land of Herbert - Alexandria Real Estate News

Land of Herbert is a community of 33 townhomes in the popular Del Ray area of Alexandria. Construction in the neighborhood started in 1981, and building continued on and off in Land of Herbert through the early 1990s. Two of the homes in the neighborhood were constructed in 2010.

Located near the intersection of Glebe Road and Mount Vernon Avenue, Land of Herbert is convenient to Route 1, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, and I-395. It?s also close to Reagan National Airport, and is just a few miles from downtown D.C. It?s also about two miles from the Braddock Road metro station.

With a walk score of 77, Land of Herbert is ?very walkable.? A dozen restaurants are within a half mile of residents? front doors, including local favorites Huascaran and PO Siam Thai Restaurant. Want to catch band in an intimate setting and enjoy dinner at the same time? The Birchmere is less than a mile from Land of Herbert. Nearly a half dozen parks are also nearby for those who need to stretch their legs and get some fresh air.

Currently, one home is actively listed for sale in Land of Herbert, according to MRIS, our local MLS. It?s a 2-bed, 1.5-bath interior unit built in 1981 with just over 1,000 square feet of living space. It?s listed for $389,983 and has been on the market for a little more than a month. This home is not a short sale or a foreclosure.

One home is currently under contract in Land of Herbert. It?s an end unit with two bedrooms and 2.5 baths that was constructed in 1993. It has a little more than 1,500 square feet of living space with an asking price of $479,900. It sat on the market for 98 days before going under contract, and it also is not a short sale or a foreclosure.

Land of Herbert is popular and in the past year, no homes changed hands in the neighborhood. We have to go back to January 2011 to find the last home that sold, and in the past two years, just five homes got new owners. They sat on the market for an average of just 14 days and sold for an average of $485,000. The housing market is strong in Land of Herbert as none of the homes that sold in the past two years were short sales or foreclosures.
